NIKAH CEREMONY

Nikah is the matrimonial social contract between a bride and bridegroom within Muslim marriage. This is main ritual of Muslim Wedding. Nikah is based on several conditions. When these conditions are fulfilled, then a man and a woman are proclaimed as husband and wife and can live together and carry on their marital duties. Karim & Asmita both are Shi’a Imami Ismaili Muslims and Ismaili religion have their unique Nikahnama worldwide i.e. Text in Arabic language. This Nikahnama contains consent for Nikah by the bride and groom, beautiful Qur’anic ayaats from Al-Qur’an, conditions as per Shi’a Imami Ismaili Muslim marriage law and at last prayers for the couple.

 

Generally Nikah Ceremony takes place at Ismaili Jamatkhana or Marriage Hall. During Nikah Ceremony the couple sits together followed by their parents, friends and relatives. Two witnesses needed for this ceremony, one per each side. When everybody gathers at Nikah venue the Nikahnama is readout loudly; couple, their parents and witnesses are supposed to sign the Nikahnama after the completion of the Nikah.
